Nose Gallery: Palma’s New Art Hub

Palma’s New Art Hub

Opens on July 11th 2024

“We are thrilled
to bring an
artist-run gallery
to Palma.”
-Martin Vives

On July 11th, Nose Gallery, a distinctive space merging gallery and artist studio,
will open near Placa Madrid in central Palma. The gallery will welcome local artists
and offer residency programs for international talent.’”Spanish Diaries” is the given name of the new art exhibition showcasing painting and ceramics of the two
emigres to the island – Julie Antonyuk and Anastasia Belous. The new exciting show is a visual dialogue
between two friends, and classmates in the past, both from Kyiv, and both now calling Mallorca their home.
The new exhibition showcases the recent work of the two friends that they created after arriving on the
island. It explores their personal connections to the Mediterranean island, the local culture, the Spanish
heritage, and emotions experienced here. Through their individual artistic lenses, they tell the two different
stories of their life in Mallorca and in Spain.

The Nose Gallery is the vision of Anastasia Belous, a professional artist and art
historian of Ukrainian descent, and Martin Vives, an art enthusiast and collector
from Palma.

For its inaugural exhibit, Nose Gallery will spotlight the works of two artist couples
from Ukraine.

Throughout July, visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant paintings of Petro
Lebedynets and Alla Aleksieyeva, a Ukrainian couple exiled in Vienna, Austria.
Their works, characterised by bold colours and rich textures, navigate a journey
from abstract to figurative art. Both artists, now in their 60s, are acclaimed on the
international art scene.

Additionally, the gallery will feature sculptures by Kyiv-born artists Lisa Portnova and Andriy Kyrychenko, who have relocated to France. Their exhibit, themed “Beauty and the Beast,” explores the dynamic relationship between man and woman through whimsical sculptures. Forced to abandon their established studio in Kyiv, the couple’s displayed works were created over the past two years.
Nose Gallery is honoured to present these profound artworks created after March 2022, offering the people of Mallorca a unique glimpse into the resilience and creativity of Ukrainian artists in exile.
