Serhii Luchishine
Serhii is an established artist, screenwriter and film director. He was born in Odesa in 1967 where he finished State Art Academy. During his extensive career, Serhii lived in Odesa, Moscow and Paris.
All this time continues to paint and to work with film – many of his canvas and cinematic works centred around minimalist aesthetic, quietness and tension.
In 2001 Serhii received an award at the internaational Film Festival at Cannes for his film titlead “The Portrait”.
The film is composed out of playful surrealistic stories about the life of an artist: in one the struggling artist commits a crime in the name of his art; in the second the recently widowed woman betrays the memory of her late husband and is being watched over by his portrait; in the third the husband is judging her actions with his friends in the afterlife.
Serhii has had many solo and group shows in Europe, and for many years collaborates with Art Pro Dono Gallery in Berlin, and ArtOdessa in Odesa, Ukraine.
Luchishinne’s paintings are luminous. The made the everyday and mundane shine out and take the centre stage in the room.
